Processed Bentonite Details
Processed Bentonite is a refined form of naturally occurring bentonite clay, primarily composed of the mineral montmorillonite, which gives it its characteristic properties—most notably, high swelling capacity, strong adsorption ability, and excellent binding strength.
At its core, montmorillonite is a layered silicate mineral that can absorb large amounts of water between its layers, causing it to expand multiple times its original volume. This unique swelling behavior makes processed bentonite especially valuable for applications that require sealing, thickening, or moisture retention.
During processing, the raw bentonite is carefully cleaned, dried, and milled to remove impurities and enhance its physical and chemical properties. This includes adjusting the particle size, improving its surface area, and standardizing its moisture content. Quality control measures at each step of processing ensure that the final product is highly pure, consistent, and suitable for demanding industrial requirements.
